Á Bientôt North Yorkshire
We seem to be forever saying goodbye to beautiful places where weather and company have been so good. First of all it was Orkney and today North Yorkshire where we have spent four days in the company of friends we first met in India two years ago.
As couples we have similar interests and they have been so kind in taking us to places in the Moors and Dales not reachable without a car. It is a most beautiful part of England. We will miss the rural scene outside our cottage window- my extra image.
We had a last coffee with them in a café in Thirsk which was festooned with cycling jerseys and memorabilia celebrating the Tour de Yorkshire in May. Some arty person had knitted a cover for the bike propped up in the window.
Then it was a delayed journey home after a suicide on the line outside London and a further crawl into Edinburgh behind one of the few Scotrail trains running today.
There was a consolation for being late home when I found a small packet waiting for me from Poppy in Orkney. I am a very lucky Lady to have all these lovely friends.
