In the little Olympic-excitement-filled world of Katie and Mummy, we are very much looking forward to this afternoon's women's team gymnastics final. Especially after the cracking result for the chaps yesterday. Katie is proudly weraing the patriotic ribbons that we claimed from Granny's ribbon box on Sunday (how cool is it to have a ribbon box!? No, just me?! Ok then!) We are also very excited because yesterday we booked tickets to go to the Paralympics in September. We will both be seeing the first session of swimming and the finals of the athletics! For less than the cost of the cheapest single ticket for either of those events in the original. I'm really excited to take her round Olympic Park, and to take her to the swimming pool that she's loved watching on television. The question was yesterday raised, however, of how quickly she would attempt to join the swimmers.

We were planning to go to a Family Fun Day at the Races this afternoon, but its a bit wet plus Katie has decided she is on a mission of play, so I have decided to let her carry on. She's lined up her friends and is "teaching" them, including reading to them from her early reading scheme books (by reading, I of course mean telling the story from memory). She is also gathering every bag that she owns so that some of her babies and friends can have their "school bags". I think they must have talked about school at nursery quite a bit, with term ending and some of the big girls leaving, because she is talking a lot about Katie going to school and knows which school she (hopefully) is going to. She's just taken out a bag of hers, a picnic bag, opened it, and out fell the contents of pretty much an entire box of cocopops. Sigh.

Anyway, we're going out for a little cycle and such later on, probably stopping at the park on the way home so she can find some stuff to swing and climb on, in warm up for this afternoon's gymnastics! GrannyGrandad should be joining us for tea, so a nice and steady day!
