Kind of...

... An emergency blip as I realised at 645 that I didn't have a photo yet today. I woke really early and was working on sewing jobs from as soon as i got up. Katie got up at 6 and had breakfast as I worked in the same room as her. She woke up kinda croupy so I am desperately hoping nothing comes of it as she's dancing in a festival tomorrow.

I know it's yet another music one, but she's had a wonderful time today with her music. She had an hour at the piano and worked really hard & happily. She's been determined to crack 2 hand, 2 octave scales which is g2 scale work and she's got it this week. She's had some new pieces that were to teach her higher ends of the treble clef and lower ends of the bass, both of which she had mastered very quickly today too. The speed her brain picks things up astonishes me. She then decided to pick up her recorder for the first time in a good two months. It took a little while for it to come back and I could actually see the battle between her clarinet physical memory & her brain. She read the notes and immediately responded with clarinet fingerings, faster than her brain told her the recorder fingerings. i found it so fascinating to see!

We drove to school today as I had a lot of stuff to take to work and said if we drove it would mean she didn't have to go in the car to church on Sunday. She accepted that as a compromise- she doesn't like going in the car to school, she likes our walks.

She said today that she really enjoyed music at school as her orchestra teacher took the class and called on katie to answer lots of questions about instruments of an orchestra.

When we got home I sent her to go play for a while I was totally bushed. She gave me six minutes before charging in just as I was dropping off for a brief nanna nap. I sent her back off and got a further ten. I then gave up and didn't even get peace to nip to the loo!

She troughed her tea in lightening speed and was playing her recorder not long after. This afternoons efforts were definitely much better than the morning. She followed it with a really productive clarinet lesson where she made a lot of progress on some things that have been challenges.

After all the efforts, for both of us with all we have had on today and the last few days, we decided to snuggle in my bed with the sewing bee final! (Final challenge to go, no spoilers please!!)
