Chavignol cross
Today we walked through the vineyards to a winegrowing village called Chavignol that also produces a goats cheese called le Crottin de Chavignol. This, plus Sancerre wine has been my staple diet since we arrived in Sancerre.
After a wine tasting session and a lovely lunch sitting in glorious sunshine outside a bistro, we cane across this interesting decorative cross outside the church.
The weather forecasters were wrong and it has been very hot all day and for the first time this week, not a drop of rain.
The return walk was quite strenuous and very tiring as we made a detour to another village and got lost among the vines.
There is a run in Sancerre now, involving 2000 competitors doing either 15k or 32k and we shall be off shortly to watch their efforts.
