Triffid....and an attempted scam...something fishy

...or rhubarb?...I blip these remarkable plants every year, and I always enjoy the dramatic and jagged architectural form that they add to the front garden. Amazing that only a couple of months ago their red crowns were just emerging from the earth.
Rheum is a cousin of rhubarb and I have two different types, the giant Rheum Palmatum "Atropurpureum" which a lot of people take to be Gunnera; and the smaller Rheum "Ace of Hearts" to its left.

Another muggy and close day, with a heavy downpour in the late afternoon. I have been catching up on various admin. chores and spent an hour gardening: I started off working in the greenhouse but it was so hot and airless I felt dizzy and decided to get out and postpone planting the last tomato plants.

The internet problems continue. The Broadband download speed oscillates madly; sometimes it is tolerably good but a minute or two later it can fade out. We reported it to our Internet Provider who passed it on to BT and Open Reach. I was told to expect a call from an engineer.

This morning a man with a very strong Asian accent called saying he was from BT. He knew all about the problem, the oscillating signal, he had my contact information and so forth. Fortunately I was moderately suspicious. Somebody tried something rather like this once before.. I questioned him and asked what he proposed to do. He gave plausible answers, to do with balancing two different frequencies (I am not very technically minded). I would need to log in to a website and this would test and balance the signal.
Then he asked an odd question...what is the key to the bottom left of your keyboard? Why would he need to know that? I figured he was trying to work out the type of computer that I have. Then he told me to log into a website called Teamviewer. At this point I told him I was  doubtful about his authenticity and needed verification. I have never heard anyone put down a phone so fast...
I am now puzzling about this situation. Perhaps the scammer and his team have been causing the internet problem themselves, jamming my line with their software? How could the caller know that only yesterday my Internet company were in touch with the  BT Engineers? Something fishy is going on...
