Finally a Tetra Lyre....

.... after 5 years!

Scientific name: Lyrurus tetrix or common name, Black Grouse These are protected birds in Switzerland. At 5am I was at the Pierre de Moelle listening to the males calling loudly, wondering which way to go. I was lucky to see a little movement at the top of a rise with a big snow patch below that would hide me as I crept up, tripod and camera at the ready. He was so concerned with his glamorous plumage and display technique that he did not notice me at all! I was lucky to get these shots, more on Flickr, https://www.flickr.com/photos/hilarysview/ , the weather was changing so fast!
