Don't Look Back . . .
. . . there's an orange monster and he's watching the 108-year-old carousel in Lakeside Park at Port Dalhousie, on the shore of Lake Ontario. The antique ride - four rows deep with 69 carousel animals including a gigantic lion, goats, giraffes, and camels - is one of the largest and best remaining examples of a Looff menagerie carousel.
Best of all, the price of a ride on the carousel hasn't changed in 100 years - it's still a bargain at 5 cents . . .
The monster isn't really fierce - he's the cover on one of the trashcans surrounding the ride. He doesn't eat children, only their rubbish, although I can think of one 5-year-old he'll probably make an exception for . . .
