A trip to Canterbury
Backblipped on Sunday 29 May
In the absence of taking any photos today, mainly due to The Sore Throat, I'm backblipping one of the very few shots I took on Wednesday. when we went to Canterbury to visit J, who was a very good friend and companion to Mr MC's father until his death in 2013.
At J's request, we took along Violet who was extremely good during the car journeys there and back and seem to enjoy the day in general. She was delighted with her gifts of a Peppa Pig toy and book and in return gave J a photo of herself 'playing' the piano. I always enjoy the company of this lovely 93 years young lady and am aware that we should try to see her more often: time passes so quickly these days.
Our journey there was smooth and quick but not so much on the way back. We had heard that the M25 was jammed (what's new?) and decided to go by the route which took us via the Blackwall Tunnel...where we discovered that only one side was open so each direction had to take turns to go through!
During our wait I took a couple of pictures of the Southern Tunnel House, at the southern entrance to the tunnel. This Victorian gateway house is now Grade II listed. On such a dull grey day the colours were less than exciting so I gave it a sketch book filter to give it more oomph!
