On the Fence

On the fence (or sitting on the fence)...1.Not able to decide something. 2. Unwilling to take a position. 3. Straddling.

After a short walk behind my house...this small fledgling was near my back porch. The white background is my back door.

I always feel a little sad for some of these young birds...sparrows or otherwise. It seems like certain birds look after their young longer than others. This little guy could barely fly. He hopped from the fence to the bush to my window sill...like he didn't know where to go.

I sometimes hate to think...that I can think like a bird. (Some would argue that my brain is about the same size.) Even on the fence...the birds eyes were opening and closing like an infant trying to stay awake in a high chair.

I couldn't stop myself from reading his thoughts. "Why would they (the parents) leave me so soon? Where am I supposed to go? What am I supposed to eat? When will my flying skills kick in?" And...just to get all 5 question header words in..."How many pictures will this guy take?"

My walk out back also provided me with a sandwich bag full of blackberries. I've got the scars on my arms and legs to prove it. As soon as I hang up here...I'm going to comb the internet in search of a cobbler recipe.
