Field Day

Not quite such an early start today, but early enough to get up the hill and play 9 holes before noon (9 holes here takes almost as long as 18 used to when we were kids in England). Field Day at the club, to mark the end of the season, with lots fun and games and a long, friendly lunch afterwards.  The photo is of Flavinho, the lad who helps out in the men’s locker room and dozens of other jobs, HH, who has had Parkinsons for years, and the retiring Chairman of the Club Council, recently diagnosed with it and still in a state of shock. He mentioned that he enjoyed my photos and seemed please when I suggested getting the camera and snapping him with HH.

Then had to hang around the club while HH went to a committee meeting. We thought it would be a quick affair, just to swear in the new Chairman, but it lasted even longer than usual. I had lent my camera for someone to take photos of the prize giving and thought I’d use the wifi to put them on the club’s Facebook page while I waited, but wound up chatting with a friend instead.

Now our thoughts are with our older daughter, our everyday hero, as she walks through the night in the London Moonwalk. She’s actually walking for the third time – last year she helped from the sidelines, in the support team. Go Chiara, it’s a great cause and we’re proud of you. Hope you won’t be too footsore tomorrow!
