Eleanor Howard Tripp Memorial Library, Woodbury

I'm off to hospital for more knee reconstruction tomorrow, so I took the chance to drive the long way home after a meeting in Geraldine this afternoon.

Heading over the Downs Road, I eventually ended up in Woodbury. It's a cute little settlement, and proudly standing in the middle of the village is this memorial library, opened in 1936.

Eleanor's father, Charles, was one of the first European settlers to run sheep in the area, and together he and John Acland established Mount Peel Station and Orari Gorge Stations. Eleanor herself was noted for her interest in social welfare and her charitable work, particularly with orphans. The library was opened in her memory in December after her passing in the January of 1936.

Processing wise on this one, I decided on a wet plate look via Nik Analog Efex. Ithink it suits the subject, not to mention the sou'westerly rain that was lightly falling as I shot this from the warm and dry of the truck.
