Not quite as planned

Last night there was a dramatic storm which kept us awake. This morning we found our hotel flooded and we were completely cut off.

Our guide was meant to take us up to see the famous rice terraces which I was so looking forward to. Unfortunately we were unable to leave our hotel so we have spent the day here with no power or hot water.

This morning there was 3 feet of water in the lobby. It is now a muddy quagmire. Everyone has remained cheerful and the staff have manned to rustle up noodles to eat.

It is now getting dark so it's going to be a long evening with no power.

The hotel ground floor and gardens are pretty trashed. I feel so sorry for the staff (and myself).
