the colour green

Woke up to a bit of a hangover, but had poached eggs on toasted, buttery baguette to ease the pain :)

Dad came back from the garden with a massive haul of veg - class!

Went over to Mirabel in the afternoon to get the place sorted for the holidaymakers coming to stay. They're a German family - three generations - really lovely people.

Called at Carrie's to pick up the naughty grey hen and Carrie's 6 chicks - including the Jedward birthday chick that hatched (the one and only!!). The hen was one of mum and dad's that thought it was a boy and kept mounting the other ladies. Mum and dad sent her over to Carrie's where she was put in her place immediately by the cock. We're now bringing her back to see if she'll behave herself with her old pals again.

The poor chicks got a right soaking in the back of the car on the way home. Their water bowl emptied into their cage (probably round a particularly curvy corner!) and there was us wondering why they were cheeping so loudly! Thankfully they were all just a bit wet under the feathers and we got them into a warm and dry place as soon as we were home.

Carrie sent us away with more veg that she'd been given by her friends Reine and Guillaume, so we had a right carload!

Picked up a pizza on the way back too. Had that with chips, salad, loads of garlicky dressing and some beers. Such a great ending to a cracking day.
