Juvenile Pine Cone

When I was in Benalla last last Thursday, I brought home a small twig from a pine tree which was very old - about 20metres tall. I have now spent my time trying to capture it.  There were all these tiny pine cones emerging from the foliage and on doing some research I am led to believe these are immature male cones - the female cones grow on the same tree. I looked up Bunya Pine, but found they are usually seen in Queensland. However, these are botanical gardens so may will have been transported for inclusion in their layout. This cone is about 2cm in length and is the softest green in colour, such a difference from the rough brown cones we ultimately see.
