Bluebells
It was like a breath of fresh air today to take a walk through the park and come across such a prolific display of bluebells in full bloom.
We have had the early snowdrops, daffodils, and primroses long before the official start of Spring just nine days ago, so it was doubly re-assuring to find bluebells in bloom as well.
For 25 years I made a regular monthly drive from the South Coast to London, and there is one spot where the M3 motorway carves through woodland, and I know it was always a talking point on the journey when the woodland floor boasted a carpet of blue.
I am happy not to have to make that monthly trip now, but there are certain highlights that I do miss and that are now confined to memory. And bluebell time on that drive is one of them.
Today it was a much more leisurely stroll through the park, but coming across this display inspires me to head for the woods, closer to home and renowned for the bluebell walk.
Providing the weekend weather stays calm and dry, that will be my number one priority.
