Mayor Island

As a child l used to look out of my upstairs bedroom window across the road to the Mount beach and on towards Mayor island which at that stage was used as a base for deep sea fishing.
The lease on the island has now reverted back to the Maori group that own it and they are now converting it into a reserve. Most animals have been eradicated and native birds and plants are bring reintroduced, it is lovely to see the island again and to know it is in good hands.
