Prunus snowstorm
I had a meeting this morning at the orchard area of our nature reserve. It was with a fruit tree expert who is collecting scions from some of our old apple and pear trees to graft and grow on to ensure we can keep those varieties going. As we arrived there was a sudden snow storm, but it was over within five minutes and then stayed fine, but cold. When we walked through to the oldest part of the orchard it was as though the snow had settled and stayed on the trees. Some of the gages (Prunus domestica) and cherry plums (Prunus cerasifera) had burst into blossom over the last few days and were looking quite spectacular. That's the sort of snow I like!
