Work party

No time for creative photos today. It was our monthly large work party at the nature reserve and I was looking after the bonfire while the volunteers were cutting and collecting scrub - mostly dogwood, willow and hawthorn. The banks you can see here should have lots of small blue butterflies nectaring and laying eggs on kidney vetch in May and June. The flatter areas will be covered in one of our speciality plants, Chiltern gentian, in August and September. These are wonderful rewards for the hard work we put in...and it keeps us reasonably fit.
