Leap of Faith
So, today was the last day of my week off. Having had a leisurely lie-in on each of the other days, I decided to get up at 7am today to make the most of it.
After breakfast (2 Shredded Wheat with hot milk, and a black coffee) I snuggled up on an armchair to finish my book. I haven't seen the movie, and don't think I will now. The book was amazing, a proper adventure set in the old Indian Wars days, and I loved it.
When I finished reading, I decided to just go ahead and book our holiday in June - I was pretty sick of trawling through websites, checking flights, comparing hotels, etc. So we are now booked for 10 days in June, to go to Corfu again - one of our favourite places on earth. We are having 6 days in Paleokastritsa followed by 4 days in Corfu Town. Perfect.
I told the girl I booked with that it was going to be for a special occasion, either as a honeymoon or a 50th birthday celebration. G's birthday is on the Saturday before we leave, and as it is a Leap Year I intend to ask him tonight to make an honest woman out of me. We have been together for 20 and a half years now. I think it is time. (Please note; EXTREME irony being employed). I hoped it would have come from him, without me having to force the issue - but like other men I know, he has obviously been so badly scarred by the first time round that he is quite happy to just let things float along, on an unofficial basis.
Got to say, I'm a bit scared, 'cos what do you do if the person who has been at the centre of your world for so long says 'No thanks'?
Wish me luck, or wish me a short sentence if he says 'No'!
