Ornamental Hens
Blipmate and I had a splendid day out today. Hoping to see butterflies we visited a lady who used to have a butterfly house - until magpies flew through the netting.
We admired her pottery and her beautiful photography - she is a truly talented lady - and she offered to show us her Chinese Silky hens that she has raised from chicks.
They are gorgeous creatures and very tame - to the extent of sitting beside her on the sofa. They come in many colours and have very soft silky feathers. The feet are almost hidden under large tufts of feathers over each foot.
I was fascinated by the pure white hen that is my main blip. It had a patch of skin on the cheek that was like a paua shell in colour.
There are another two in the extras.
Blipmate and I had dinner in town and then went on to a fascinating speaker talking about DNA and genetic genealogy. A pretty good day
all round.
