Cromer Pier repairs

A great job being done down by the sea, and still incredible to think that the sea could do so much damage. But I will return to pier related news later.

Up after a bit of a lie in. Today Jon is 51 so I decide that it wasn't fair to make him do the tea. We met when we were 16 & 17, and love blossomed on the chair lift at Alum Bay during a guide camp on the Isle of Wight. I was with the guides as a young leader & he was with his family as his mum was a leader and 2 sisters were at guides. It seems like an awfully long time ago, and yet also like it was only yesterday.

Today Mollie drove us to Holt where there is a cafe that make huge scones. We had coffee and cakes and then a browse in the charity shops. I really wanted a pale blue crimpelene 60's suit. I looked at it last time I was there. But I have to be strict with myself and I really don't need it - although I was thinking I wear it.....such a dilemma. I might go back...

After lunch we went to Cromer. Here is the exciting bit - Mollie had an interview on the pier for a job, along with many others. They had it set up like speed dating - 3 minutes with each interviewer, moving on as the bell rang. Certainly an experience. Those successful (it was going on from 4 to 7pm) will be contacted very quickly before the next stage. She was relaxed and confident. I felt proud that she was trying to get something sorted for the year. So finger crossed for now & keeping eyes open for other opportunities!

We bought a Morrisons indian takeaway, which was great value, very varied & tasty. We also got popcorn for the film later. (i wont pay cinema prices for popcorn!!) Now I've just got to stay awake - it doesn't start until 8.50....I have to go to work tomorrow - but I know Mollie will nudge me if i fall asleep!

Happy Birthday Jon. Where have all those years gone?!....
