Four years!
Four years ago today I posted my first ever blip, however over the last couple of years there have been a few gaps along the way so I'm a little way off my 1,460th.
Once I reached my two year anniversary, I said that I was going to take a step back, and then said the same last year, but for some reason I keep on blipping! I think it's down to you guys - you're a great bunch of people and have been so supportive since my cancer diagnosis last summer, so thank you all for being there!
Anyway, back to today - we got up quite late, well for me it was 9am but that's a lie in. I'm cooking lamb shanks in the slow cooker for dinner, so wanted to get them in before 10am and I googled a recipe from the BBC Good Food guide for slow cooked lamb shanks in red wine - it smells good, so fingers crossed!
Then I nipped to Lidl in Newhaven as my friend Lorraine told me yesterday that it's 'French' week and they were selling macarons - my favourites. I only got a basket as I wasn't planning on buying much, but isn't it always the way when you do that, that you find more than you expected? They had lots of things that we loved when we lived in France & Belgium, so naturally I had to stock up. Every time I go to Lidl I say that I should go more often and today I've said it again!
On my way home I stopped off in Telescombe Cliffs to take this shot looking towards Brighton. In the dip you can see Saltdean where we live, then over the hill to Rottingdean, down to the marina and finally Brighton in the distance. I was going to post a typical valentine's blip, but you've seen the cliffs from the other direction many times so I thought this might be interesting for you.
When I got home, Alan & I took the boys down to the beach and we walked to Ovingdean and back which was 3 miles in total. I feel great, it's the furthest I've walked since my chemo and I could have kept walking, I wasn't out of breath and my legs weren't heavy - which is how it's been for a long time. But I didn't push it as I don't want to overdo things, I'll just start building it up slowly.
On that note, I'd better go and check the dinner - Happy Valentines Day!
