Stabbing the haggis
The traditional Burns Supper is so not me that I can confidently say I've been to one, a very long time ago, and would nowadays run a mile to avoid going to another. However, an invitation to share a large traditional (i.e. in a sheep's stomach rather than plastic) haggis from the wonderful MacSweens, with friends, was quite another matter and not to be turned down.
So here is the haggis being well stabbed to the accompaniment of a parody of the Selkirk grace, in a candle-lit kitchen where there would be no piping, no speeches, no maudlin song. Just conversation, food, wine, and an amazing pudding.
I'm sure Rabbie Burns would have enjoyed it fine ...
