The Phoenix Rises

Hot

The waterfall, not the brother.

We drove from Rotarua after breakfast at the museum. Pancakes and fruit compote, while Ally had breakfast pie (bacon and egg).
There was also a spot of hat and sandal shopping before we left for Taupo so we were a tad late leaving. The stop en route at Huka falls was spectacular and although Niagra fall is wider, the channel that Huka falls is gouging with enough water to fill an olympic sized swimming pool every few seconds really astounded me.
The Adelphi motel awaited, but we soon dashed out to the park and a swim in the Waikato river which is warmed by this amazingly hot waterfall.
Big brother was the only one of us with skin thick enough not to be scalded off his back. He loved it.
After a return to the motel and shower, we headed out to find dinner and saw the beginnings of a beautiful sunset, before we had to order dinner in the most wonderful Gastro pub, Rose on Roberts street in Taupo.
A superb day.
