Bars, Waterfalls, Bars, Mountains, Bars
What...A...Day! Having a very lazy start after being completely knick-nacked from Rome, Dwelody FINALLY got up to entertain Gordo.
Domestics done (running out of clean clothes) we needed to be fed so supermarket we went...now for Gordon...grocery shopping = work which = the need for a reward WHICH = BAR!
After a drink called a 'Spritz' (tasty) we walked round the beautiful lake that Alleghe sits on...such a contrast to crazy Roma! We took a scramble up to a massive waterfall to take in the beautiful view (we will say beautiful A LOT in this blog) and got a little moist! Stunning....then obviously...we'd done work - BAR! (see a pattern here?).
We decided the walk was not adventurous enough SO grabbed climbing equipment (Gordon's job is to basically take people to do all the stuff he loves -Ice climbing/mountain climbing/rock climbing/husky racing - and gets PAID for it...genius I know!) and drove to a place where we could 'Ferata' which is basically harnessing yourself up and, using cables and ladders, climb up rock faces!
Yes...Dwelody obviously thought that climbing to dizzy heights was a great idea! WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY ACCIDENTS!!! :D
Getting to the top we walked to a log cabin built for climbers on a ledge overlooking the most beautiful view - it was perfect and so secluded - what Gordon would describe as a great place for a dirty weekend! Literally on your own on top of a massive rock overlooking the Dolomites and Italian countryside...we didn't want to leave!
Getting back safely we were FAMISHED so stuffed our faces at the local Pizzeria and Melody and Gordon introduced Dwyer to her first taste of Grappa...its was nearly pure alcohol and not to Dwyer's liking - she couldn't breathe - HOWEVER there are over 50 types of Grappa in the Dolomites we shall have to try each one until she finds one she likes...Shame...
Much love,
Dwelody xx
