Hey Pope!

Last day in Rome today so we went to say hi to the Pope in the Vatican City, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Cathedral. It was stunning! We were in awe of the sculptures, artwork and tapestries on display - Only slight downside was the other 15,000 people who also joined us meaning there are other random tourists photo-bombing our pictures! Nevertheless, a must visit and gave us a break away from the sunshine.

After the tour we had to have one more Italian coffee. We can't get enough of it!

We quickly rushed back to our hostel and had to make our way to the train station with our big backpacks. Sweaty doesn't even come close to describing it. Lovely! However, despite the little bit of rushing and panicking we did manage to get our train to Venezia aka VENICE!! This was not our destination...we were instead meeting Melody's wonderful adopted Uncle Gordon - 'Gordo'.

Now Gordo had the pleasure of living with Melody's Dad when they were young scamps...the stories are, some hilarious...some terrifyingly bad - basically men behaving badly in real life! He is a world travelling bachelor who likes to charm all the ladies and run off with Claudia Schiffer look-a-likes.

So Gordon was waiting for us on the platform....we stayed on the train and got off on the wrong stop...standard!

We finally managed to get a train back to Gordo and he most wonderfully drove us 2 hrs into the mountains to the most beautiful and spectacular Alleghe - see Google images...literally stunning!

After a catch up and Dwyer on too much beer...Melody force-fed a bottle of wine (Gordon is a bad influence!!) we collapsed in bed ready for our Alleghe adventures!
