Bella Italia

Due to the lack of sleep the night before (the degree results night!), Dwelody crashed early to bed - especially Melody having not having a bed on the yacht for the last 7 nights. We got up early..ish? (early for us two!) and hit the centre of Rome for a jam packed day of sight-seeing.

In the sweltering Italian sun we still managed to storm around the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Monumento Vittorio Emanuele (our favourite!), the streets of Trastevere, the Pantheon and Trevi fountains. We hit Piazza Navona for Italian coffee to keep us energised - Cappuccino for Melody, Iced Coffee for Dwyer. Yummy.

You can imagine that with the 36 degree heat and all of this walking around, Dwelody were not looking the most attractive, however, this did not stop the Italian men! Apparently the two of us are quite a hit with the 55-60+ in Italy with some cracking chat-up lines including "You must be top model in England" and "Where you from?...Paradise?!"... even our very own sweaty Roman Gladiator tried to steal a kiss from both of us! Oh and to top it all off, we got asked out on a date by two Italians who could barely speak English! Conversation literally went, "You two go for coffee....? ..No? ... Beer?...No?"...No thank you!

After a much needed rest, Dwelody did the standard dressing up for our first official date. In Italy. How romantic.... Or not. Melody was much more interested in the food (standard). She likes to keep reminding Dwyer of how good her pumpkin filled ravioli with sausage sauce was!

After eating other Italian delights, we ran back to the Colosseum to join 5000 other nervous Italian fans to watch the final of Euro 2012. Amazing atmosphere! The streets were filled with numerous fog horns and chants of "Italia! Italia!" Unfortunately, stupid Spain had to go and win the match so there wasn't any crazy parties we had anticipated. Instead, it turns out, upset Italians like to stuff themselves with Gelato. We of course joined them.

After a hectic day we crashed in our hostel room to get ready for more sight-seeing tomorrow.
