Getting in the spirit

Earlier today I listened to a podcast (Point of Inquiry) about the origins of our winter celebrations in the debauched celebrations of Saturnalia. It seems the herald angels were harking back to those days too.

Anna's school choir were singing in a carol concert with a local adult singing group this evening. It was in our local church which I was expecting to be super Christmassy but either they don't decorate as much as I thought they would or it is a little early. So I wasn't sure what I would blip until the programme happily delivered.

The rest of the day was fairly ordinary in a quite nice sort of way. We did get our tree and a bonus small tree for the front of the house thrown in for a bargain fiver. Makes us less anxious about whether it will get nicked; I have faith in the human spirit but there is a little more cynicism around here.

Carlos and I are watching his favourite Christmas movie to help out: Die Hard.
