Man impersonates wind turbine
Not wonderful quality or focus, this shot, but I like it and sometimes you just have to amuse yourself.
That's Heanton and the edge of Braunton in the background and the newish wind turbines - which it turns out don't eat children or ruin our enjoyment of our local area in the slightest. I've loved wind turbines for years and years since I first saw them on the hills of Cornwall and thought about what they stood for.
My mum was part of the local green group that campaigned for these turbines and wrote a letter to the paper at the time to try to counteract some of the opposition. It always astounds me that people worry about their views being ruined by turbines when, in fact, they have surrounded themselves with roads and pylons, cut down trees and choked the air with fumes. You already ruined it you numpties. This is trying to do something positive.
Loads of people were on this walk around Crow Point today but everyone was walking the opposite way to us. It was a bit creepy. At one point so may people were walking towards us it felt like we'd walked onto a scary film set and loads of living dead extras were coming towards us. (Maybe you had to be there...) It turns out we were walking in the right direction after all. They had to walk into a sandstorm when they rounded the corner and we had it on our backs.
Hum... There's a message in there...
What else...?
We had to take Tess shoe-shopping for school shoes. There's no way her feet can be squeezed into her current shoes after a growth spurt. It's ridiculous to be doing this 3 weeks before the summer holidays.
Joel came with us into town (a very rare occurrence for a 15-year-old boy!) and we picked Gemma up after a weekend with friends. So coming home in the car we had "whole family!" (to quote Gemma from 14 years ago). I secretly loved having all 5 of us stuck together in one car. And then, to top it all, I even managed to make everyone eat with me this evening!
I had to help Tess with her bullfinch research for school. Apparently bullfinches mate for life! And they are on the endangered list in the UK because not enough people give a toss about protecting woodlands. The more I know about stuff the more I think what selfish gits human beings are.
