More of the sog
Wind, rain, grey skies. Poor light. Flat photos. Darkness causing trouble focussing. No bees, birds, butterflies, or children coming out to play... Blah blah blah...
I've decided to rename this weather Sog. Jollying things up with a Y at the end of them is too good - and a little bit cute - for this weather. Not muddy but mud. Not rainy (how sweet), but rain, not cloudy but clouds, clouds, clouds, everywhere clouds... Soggy sounds a bit twee and harmless. This is getting depressing. So: sog.
I had a slow day physically. It's been one of my hobbledy days. I've come to accept these days and even appreciate the way they force me to slow down. It's a good way to pay more attention to the little things and think about what I'll do when I get unhobbledified.
I wrote a flash-fiction today and peered at the garden, at the veg, at the compost bin (don't we all), and managed to get off the phone from my mother in under an hour!
Teen 1 has buggered off for three days, so I will send her a text every 12 hours and hope she gets them and hope she is okay. It's weird when your children suddenly find they don't need you unless they run out of money. She's been thinking about her future recently and we hope she makes the right decision - or at least one she doesn't spend her life regretting...
Teen 2 has been thinking about his future too. He went to the 6th form college with the school today to check out the engineering department. His conclusion was that it is far too much like school and he isn't inspired. After half an hour going through the prospectus (is that word only for universities?) we discovered there are some really interesting-sounding A levels these days so he can see a reason for passing his GCSEs now (I hope!)
The 7-year-old said today was 'Bum and poo' so I'm assuming she had a busy day and is too tired to bother sharing her news. She did read me some pages from a book I had as a child called The Young Reader's Book of Birds and it was lovely listening to her. She's going to learn about bullfinches for her spotlight at school next week.
