Oystercatcher(Haematopus ostralegus)
Another lone bird, which is very unusual, this lovely Eurasian Oystercatcher looked a little lost amongst the sleeping gulls. I watched him for a bit and he had a short rest and then started to poke around in the lagoon, which is why his lovely bright orange bill is a bit dirty. Barr Al Hikman and Masirah frequently have flocks in the Winter that exceed 10,000 birds, so I wonder if he was having a stop over. We were so very lucky to miss the cyclone that hit Socotra and Yemen, with Salalah just having some heavy rain and thunderstorms.
