Himalayan Cowslip

Today's the day ........................... for the giants

Primula florindae, also known as the giant cowslip, is a native of southeastern Tibet, where it grows in huge numbers usually close to rivers. It was first identified in 1924 by Frank Kingdon-Ward and was named after his wife Florind.

It has clusters of yellow bell-like flowers with a delicate scent which hang from stalks up to 90-120 cm high. It's a plant that grows best in very moist conditions and it is cold-hardy as long as its roots are not allowed to dry out.

Drying out - chance would be a fine thing in my front garden .........................
