Today's the day ..................... for an Australian blip

Quick blip today because we're awaiting the arrival of Helen and Wayne - friends from Australia who are coming to spend the night here. We met Helen when we were in Toronto earlier this year and when we knew that she would be visiting the UK in the summer we invited her and Wayne to come and stay.

They have a farm in Manoora in Southern Australia. Helen has a Nuffield Scholarship for a year to enable her to visit other parts of the world and see how they run things there. Will has organised a visit to a Lake District farm tomorrow for her.

This is a Callistemon commonly known as the Bottle Brush, growing in my garden - chosen because I think it is endemic to Australia. Good link eh ........................?!
