Pamukkele...

...( I have discovered there are several ways to spell it)..and the sun finally made a brief appearance before sunset. 

What a beautiful place! These hot springs of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water have the Turkish name of cotton castle and how appropriate is that! I would love to have had longer in this beautiful place and to have walked the ridge and looked down into this basin and seen the lake  and springs from above. But we had to move on....

We had visited Sardis and the temple of Artemis in heavy cloud and drizzle so the sunshine gave a wonderful lift to everything and everyone.

My two extras today; the pomegranate juice on offer.... I tried it but find it rather sour....and one of the three wedding couples having their photos taken here today. What a beautiful headdress the bride is wearing! 

Does anyone else remember using a pin to eat pomegranates...?
