Autumn Hues

It’s on a day like today that you realise that autumn is with us with a vengeance  . . .  grey skies,  rain for most of the day and thoroughly depressing to be out and about.
Yet this splash of autumnal colour in the grounds of Romsey Abbey did much to brighten up my day.
True, the leaves are falling and the rain at times heavy, saw to it that the fall of leaves was accelerated.
Yet there is something harmonious about the golden hues, even in the rain, and there were several occasions today that I found myself  catching a fresh perspective on some of the country roads around town — places where trees overhung the road, almost forming a golden archway.
But perhaps we’ll save that for another day
