Ruby Memories

It was 40 years ago today that Jill and I tied the knot, so small wonder this village church in Hampshire is high in our memories this day.
Time was when we were regular visitors to the church of St Leonard’s but not long after this memorable day of our marriage, we were on the move and sadly rather lost contact with the church which held a special place in our hearts.
It is picturesque to this day, and that is just how we remember it 40 years ago. Mind you, it has generations of history behind it.
The church can trace its history back to the 12th century and the experts can point  to architectural features which date it fairly accurately to the latter part of that century. Apparently there is also surviving documentary evidence to support this.
On October 30, 1975 however, it was not so much its history that was foremost in our minds, rather the joy of the day itself, and having those close to us, both family and friends with us at this ceremony to bless our nuptials.
Of course, today we question just to where those 40 years have disappeared. To say it seems just like it was yesterday is a bit of a misnomer and there many things  we and our family have achieved in that time. We have also moved home a few times since then.
Our celebration today of that unforgettable day is probably going to be much quieter, but one thing is for we will share a glass or three of bubbly before the day is out .

Cheers, Cin Cin, Salute and Santé !
