Chateau de Versailles

A day trip to Versailles today. The chateau is stunning, almost overwhelming in its opulence and scale. Of course it was very busy, but the key was to let the big groups of Japanese with all their selfie sticks and huge phones, rush past, and then the rooms felt almost empty!

The highlights of the day were mirrors, both old and new. Old - the famous Hall of Mirrors which didn't disappoint at all and the new - Anish Kapoor's contemporary mirrors outside, which distort the surrounding environment. A great day out!
