Water at last for Mwingi Primary School
In Kitui District, Kenya, one of the biggest challenges to health and well-being is water scarcity. Children often walk many miles each day to collect water.
IMPACT East Africa has been working to install boreholes at some of the most impoverished schools we work with, in order to provide children with clean water on site.
The new borehole at Mwingi Primary School (which also incorporates a school for deaf children) is in the final stages of completion. Here children help as the drilling company put the final touches on the project.
IMPACT's thriving school health programme teaches older children to check the health of pupils and refer those needing treatment to our community nurse. We also deworm children, provide medication for conditions such as ringworm and combat malnutrition through vegetable growing.
