Happy Birthday JJ!

We have been so worried about today. Would it feel special, would he feel okay, how could it be better than all the other days; basically would it feel like his birthday...

There have been dips throughout the day but it started well with presents and pancakes and is ending really well with his party.

The plan was simply to invite a bunch of his closest friends over and give them the downstairs kitted out with playstation, pinball machine, dining table converted to table tennis table, order in pizza and light a birthday cake. Me, Carl and Anna are playing the role of staff when needed and other than that hiding upstairs with a combination of Amazing Race, rugby and Dr Who. J is clearly exhausted and we know he will pay the price tomorrow and perhaps a little longer but we knew that going in and it is definitely worth it. He is so happy and all this good feeling must surely be good for him somehow.

Such a relief. I spent most of the day wondering if it was wrong that I was hoping this would be the worst birthday he ever had to have. And I guess in some ways I still do sort of wish that but it is so much better than we ever hoped.
