Visit Scotland!

Rumour has it that VisitScotland has invested 7 million pounds in a web site to accompany the new Disney cartoon Brave which features Rebekka Brookes! & many places in Scotland one of which is our own Kilmatin Glen. Argyll & Bute Council ,improving school dinners, are also wishing to promote a new tourist trail called the Columba Trail which is meant to follow the footseps of good old Columba through his sojurns in Argyll.

Dunaad Fort perhaps one of ARgyll's if not Scotlands premier sites has the smallest signpost you ever saw, in fact I was here for an entire year before I found it! There is a lovely nice raod leading to it and a lovely big car park but as you can see from the picture Hellish little space to allow a coach to turn onto the road without getting mangled! Rumour has it Historic Scotland did this deliberatley to appease those with posh houses nearby to prevent too many people accessing the Fort and using their nice wee road, well perhaps somone ought to tell VisitScotland this so they won't be spending any more of my spondoolaks on stupid webpages!
Another importnt Columba related place (boy did this old monk get around) is his cave at Ellary down a 3 mile single track with few and very shallow passing places which with the best will in the world, a big long coach cannot go down! So where is the joined up thinking here?
Finally thinking I would be doing them a favour! I took the coak to Kilmartin Museum cafe so they could get a cup of tea & some snacks. The wuman in the museum shop growled at me "you should have told us you were coming, we only have 3 teeangers on and you have overwhelemed them" Sooorrrryyyy. So every coach that passes must tell her they are coming! well if there are still only 3 hapless sullen teenagers working at a snails pass then no thnk you we will pass on and if they don't want coaches they shoudl do what Castle Stalker cafe does and have millions of notices saying "strictly no coaches" elcome to Scotland!!!!!!As it as we upped sticks and left as we were getting black looks not just from the staff but from other customers who were also so parched their tongues were hanging out on the tables and had lost the will to live when 27 other people walked in!

So maybe its not just Disneys cartoon that is a fairy tale...so is our hospitality & tourist trade Im afraid.
Happy blipping all
