Possible murder suspect...

Does anyone recognise this fungus, which has broken out in abundance at the foot of a very tall and ancient climbing rose which died recently? It is under suspicion and may well have causes the death of the rose...i am wondering if it is honey fungus. I certainly won't be eating it!
