Northern Lights (and the Plough too)
The northern lights (Aurora Borealis) here are lighting up the northern horizon, providing a silhouette of the the trees but leaving the stars shining brightly. You can see the plough formation, with its seven stars, clearly too.
The display had been much more spectacular earlier but it took me a while to figure out how to photograph this phenomena. Next time I’ll be better prepared....
I really like my picture, because it's mine(!) but if you want a much more spectacular photo of the same thing on the same night take a look at bergfoto's Blip for today, from Iceland.
"Light and dark" seem to be a theme today, as you can see from JanHar's blip!
