Just waiting for the animals !
We have the floods, we have the ark (well a bird table on a high pole), where is Noah when you need him!
This is supposed to be our lawn but is rapidly becoming a very large pond. The blackbird on the left has been gathering up worms, driven up by the rising water. Poor chap he is still feeding young and cannot go in to the dry. This pond is not due to a high tide but solely the rain. As you can guess we have had BIG RAIN since yesterday which is forecast to continue for days.
This morning I donned coat and wellies to trek round the garden rescuing plants that had blown around. I then checked my greenhouse fighting the rising winds hoping to find refuge from the storm. No way ! there was more rain in the greenhouse - I think due to overflowing gutters because the water butts are full. (who said - it never rains but it pours ! )
I returned to the greenhouse this evening, in another set of dry clothes, to secure it for the night only to find the tomatoes sitting in huge ponds of their own !!!
At least the plumber came out in the rain to repair a fault and so now we have hot water. I know it is still falling water but there is no wind in the shower cubicle and the water is HOT HOT HOT!
