Taking the Jeep out for a thresh
Off for a 10 day trek through the Himalaya - via the Trans Himalaya range.. We're off anti-clockwise.. which is probably not great for those uptight Tibetans we'll meet (one always processes in a clockwise direction for prayer wheels / Gompas etc) however Tibetans don't seem too prone to such behavior so we should be OK. Starting out at Naggar we went down the valley and off towards the Jalori Pass - but stopped off in the Teotan valley as our first stop. Going in this direction helps prepare the party for the altitude we'll encounter - stepping up slowly rather than the potentially dangerous jump to 4000m+ that clockwise would present.
This blip was taken on our way out of the Kullu valley.. it's harvest time for the barley - and the 'traditional' way of separating stem & grain is obviously to let all the passing traffic do the work.
We're on the trail...
