Chimborazo trek

Today we left with a clear view of Tangarahua which just had steam coming out whereas yesterday it started erupting ash cloud.

We drove higher and higher to another volcano Chimborazo which is the highest mountain in the world if you go by how far it is from the earth's core. The bus dropped off those who wanted a walk, at an altitude of 4300m, so we had to walk the last 500 metres in height. It was a 2 hour walk. It was very cold - we needed hats and gloves - and windy. The A team got to the refugio less then a minute before us, so I was quite happy as although we were all slow, I had no bad symptoms of altitude. Some of the group stayed on the bus and did not walk as they felt a bit dizzy and headachy. I'm encouraged as we have to reach 6000m in Bolivia.

After the walk we got the bus and descended to Riobamba where we stay one night before we go on the Devil' Nose Train to Cuenca.

The hotel I'm in just now has very slow wifi so I hope this loads. I can see Facebook no bother but blip is taking ages. I'm missing seeing your journals!
