Freedom for the Towers
Well another great day and it's fair to say in little over 24hrs we have well and truly done New York.
The day started off with an early 9 mile run around Central Park and Manhattan. For most serious runners ticking off a route around the Park is a huge must. Then it was onto a quality open top bus tour of lower Manhattan including Ground Zero. Very very moving especially with the 14th anniversary this coming Friday. We visited both memorial on the sites of the North and South towers and it's nice to see the freedom Tower dominating the NY skyline now symbolising the city's determination to plough on. All 3,000 names of the people that died are imprinted around both memorials and your thoughts do go back to that horrific day in 2001.
Then it was a boat tour over to Brooklyn and then to the Statue of Liberty. What a landmark looking over the city. We strolled around the financial district and Wall Street before hopping back onto the bus only to be met with thousands celebrating Brazilian Independence down Sixth Av.
New York almost done then onto Washington.
It's hot - very hot
