Washington lock

A long old travelling day. A bit of brunch on Labour Day in New York first thing (fruit, yogurt and bagels) followed by the collection of the beast that was the SUV Mazda. Originally we were going to train it down the coast to Washington but due to it being a Bank Holiday over here we had to change our plans due to availability and price so drove. 5hrs, albeit in a lovely air conditioned car in 90 degrees, it took as we went through 5 States.

Washington, from what I've seen so far, looks a lot less intense and calmer than New York and this little canal - which runs alongside the Potomac, is by our apartment. Clearly there will be the standard Washington blips over the next couple of days....
