Day 10

Well what a day it has been today.  I have waited 55 years for this reunion and today was the day.  My best friend in primary school Linley had tracked me down a couple of years ago and since then we have been in contact via email and phone calls but until today had not met face to face in all that time.

We couldn't believe it when we realised that we would be travelling across Australia from different directions at the same time.  With a bit of plotting and planning we managed to organise our trips so that we would meet today in Streaky Bay.  CCN and I arrived yesterday and just after 1.30pm today my friend drove into the caravan park.  As you can imagine, it was hugs all round - I think we'll be having to fight for air time, there's so much to catch up on, 55 years of life, well that's not going to happen in three days I can tell you.  We were both really sporty and that love of sport has followed both of us through our lives.  Fortunately when we were at school we were on the same team and I can't remember us ever being rivals, just good buddies.

We will spend the next two nights in Streaky Bay before heading off across the Nullarbor to Western Australia.  We still have 2005 km's to go before reaching the Indian Ocean on the other side of Australia.  Steady as she goes.

I have added a couple of extra images tonight of the Molly Gull - a rather beautiful sea bird.  As you will see, from my blip and the extras, the bay was  like glass.  Streaky Bay is a truly beautiful place.
