It was most enjoyable to walk through Chatsworth Park with a group of friends and also to see the preparations for the Country Fair which opens tomorrow.  We watched dogs racing, various birds of prey on their perches and saw many vintage vehicles arriving. Unfortunately we hadn’t much time to explore the magnificent gardens and see the sculptures dotted around. Despite being unimpressed on my previous visit today I found the interior of the house very interesting particularly the very modern chairs of all sorts of shapes and sizes and materials.
Extras
While walking through the park we noticed these deer near a tree laden with apples and one was having great difficulty trying to bite an apple which is just visible in its mouth.
Chatsworth was one of the places where Mary Queen of Scots was kept prisoner on several occasions and was allowed to exercise on the grassy platform on top of the tower where it was considered to be safe from any Catholics who wished to rescue her. It is now known as Queen Mary’s Bower. (I include this as part of my Mary Queen of Scots series)
