Exotic flowers

When I was recently in Florida, I happened upon these pretty purple flowers growing next to a palm tree.  I have never seen anything like them before.  I took a picture meaning to look them up but I never got around to it. 

I'm going to the beach tomorrow.  I hope to get a nice picture of the sea.
